• 1987—1989 Attending the 1st and 2nd grade at the Polytechnic Secondary School „Hans Beimler“ in Bärenklau (Brandenburg). 34 years later, this school is the protagonist in his documentary film “Heimatkunde”
• 2001—2010 Studies in “Experimental Media Design” at the University of the Arts Berlin; director & producer of various commissions for organisations and companies
• 2018: 5r Filmproduktion is founded

• Joanna Piechotta was born and raised in Poland. After studying free arts at the University of the Arts Poznan, in 2010 she moved to Berlin to study at the Camera department of the Film University Babelsberg (formerly HFF Konrad Wolf). In 2015, she completed her diploma course with distinction.

• Her first feature film: “ADAM” premiered in 2018 at the 68th Berlinale. Her first feature-length documentary premiered in 2019 in the Forum section of the Berlinale, and it won the German Short Film Award in Gold

• She has been a member of the European Film Academy since 2019. Joanna lives and works in Berlin
